Base Fuel Tuning

Base Fuel Tuning

The Base fuel table serves as the ECU's primary source for fuel delivery calculation. This table works in different ways depending on the Tuning Method set in the Fuel Tuning node.

When Tuning Method is 'Volumetric Efficiency' this table is the VE of the engine pumping system as a whole at each load and RPM point. From this VE value, the ECU can then calculate the fuel delivery amount based on several factors such as (but not limited to) Engine Displacement, Intake Air Temperature, Fuel Density, Injector Flow Rate and Target Lambda. Values are Engine Efficiency in percent.
When Tuning Method is 'Injection Time' this table is the actual injection time commanded at each load and RPM point. Values are injection time in milliseconds (ms)
When Tuning Method is 'Fuel Flow Rate' this table is the actual fuel flow rate commanded at each load and RPM point. Values are fuel flow rate in the user's 'Fuel Volume' unit as set in Preferences > Units Options.
When Tuning Method is 'Mass Air Flow' this table is the airflow correction factor against the MAF sensor curve. All values in the Base table should be set to 1.000 before tuning, and corrections made from this value.

    • Tuning for Idle (fuel)

The idle mixture is very sensitive to changes in injection time. Idle injection times are usually around 1.5 to 2.5 ms. If the injection time at idle is much lower than this, it may become difficult to set accurate idle and cruise air/fuel ratios. ...
