How to update your Haltech iC-7 dash display to use the NSP software

Haltech has now released a feature-rich update for your IC-7, utilizing the Nexus Software Programmer (NSP) software. This update enables you to use new dash features like user-configurable inputs and outputs which you can also share with your Elite or Nexus ECU, datalogging, generic channel functionality, real-time software connection with virtual dash display, and much more.

Before you begin, you need to take note of some important things:

  1. This update will wipe your existing configuration and reset it to default. Once the update is complete you will need to reconfigure your dash using NSP.  You will not be able to load a configuration file saved using ICC into a dash that uses NSP.
  2.  If you don't need the new features on your iC-7 dash, you can skip this update and continue using ICC to configure your dash.
  3. The upgrade will take approximately 10 minutes. Ensure that your IC-7 dash and your laptop have enough power to last throughout the upgrade process.

Step-by-Step guide:

1. Download the latest Haltech ICC installer - Go to the Haltech website and navigate to the Downloads section, and click on the "Download" link for the latest IC Configurator software (version 1.14.0).

2. Run the installer fileOnce the download is complete, locate the downloaded file (usually in the ‘Downloads’ folder of your computer) and double-click on it to run the Setup Wizard. This setup process will first install the latest version of the ICC software, then a version of the NSP software capable of configuring your iC-7 display dash (i.e., NSP v1.38.8 or later).

3. Launch the Haltech ICC softwareOnce the installation is complete, launch the Haltech ICC software either from the Windows ‘Start’ menu or using the desktop shortcut that was created. Next, power up the iC-7 dash and connect it to your laptop using the included USB cable. The ICC software will now indicate that the dash is connected and display a new button to upgrade your dash to use the NSP software, as shown below.

4. Upgrade to NSP - With the ICC software showing the dash being connected, click on the "Upgrade to NSP" button to begin the upgrade process. This process takes approximately 10 minutes. You will see the dash reboot a few times and remain on a black screen for minutes at a time. This is completely normal and expected as the iC-7 hardware is being reflashed with new firmware. After the process completes, click on "Finish" to close ICC and start NSP.

5. Mission accomplished! - When the NSP software opens, the newly updated iC-7 display dash will automatically connect, allowing you to start configuring your dash with the newly added features. If NSP doesn't connect to the dash automatically, simply click on the Connect/Disconnect button shown in the top left section of the screen below.

Also, the newly updated iC-7 dash display that uses the NSP software will now show the current Haltech logo for the startup screen when you do a power cycle, as opposed to the Haltech Engine Management Systems logo used by the ICC software.
