Fuel Pressure Sensor

Fuel Pressure Sensor

A Fuel Pressure Sensor can be used with your Elite ECU for datalogging, injector pressure differential tuning and for Engine Protection purposes.

Wiring Tab

Connections

Fuel Pressure Input

Select an appropriate input to use for the Fuel Pressure Sensor. An AVI (Analogue Voltage Input) should be used.

Connection Type

AVI

An AVI (Analogue Voltage Input) is suggested.

Pull up

Enables a 1k pull up resistor to 5V.

Typically the pull up should be enabled with any two-wire temperature sensor, and disabled for sensors with their own voltage supply. If the sensor is being shared with another ECU, such as with a piggyback installation with an OEM ECU, then the other ECU will generally include a necessary pull up and this setting should be set to Disabled.

SPI

An SPI (Synchronised Pulsed Input) can be used where there are no available AVIs.

Sensor Type

Set to Hall Effect for all analogue inputs

Pull up

Enables a weak 10k pull up resistor to 5V.

Calibration Tab

This allows calibrations for a Fuel Pressure Sensor to be loaded or saved. A number of calibrations come pre-installed with the ESP Software package. If your sensor is not listed, a custom calibration can be created with the data provided by the sensor manufacturer. The default calibration will be for the Haltech 150psi Pressure Sensor.

From the image below:

*1 – Selecting this yellow Open icon will allow the loading of a pre-configured calibration file.

*2 – Selecting this blue Disk icon will allow the saving of your custom calibration file.

Display Tab

Warning Minimum

When the Fuel Pressure reads below this amount, any fuel pressure items on the ESP software will flash Red as a warning of low Fuel Pressure.

Warning Maximum

When the Fuel Pressure reads above this amount, any Fuel Pressure items on the ESP software will flash Red as a warning of high Fuel Pressure.

Diagnostics Tab

The settings in this tab allow limits to the set for the detection of either fault conditions, or conditions that could be considered to cause engine damage related to the Fuel Pressure Sensor.

Raw Min

When enabled, this allows for the error code P0192 to be set when the voltage is below the set amount. This is used to detect a short or disconnection with the wiring. If the Engine Protection function is active a DTC Severity level can be selected for this condition if desired. (Default = Disabled)

Raw Max

When enabled, this allows for the error code P0193 to be set when the voltage is above the set amount. This is used to detect a short or disconnection with the wiring. If the Engine Protection function is active a DTC Severity level can be selected for this condition if desired. (Default = Disabled)

Operating

When enabled allows detection of Fuel Pressure conditions that could cause engine damage, using error code P0191. All of the following conditions must be reached simultaneously to activate the DTC. If the Engine Protection function is active a DTC Severity level can be selected for this condition if desired. (Default = Disabled)

Deadband Value

The Fuel Pressure must drop below the Fuel Pressure that is expected in the Elite ECU by this amount. The expected Fuel Pressure is based on the Base Fuel Pressure value entered

Precondition

Allows engine load to be considered. Select from MAP, TPS, or Both.

Minimum MAP

Active when either MAP or Both has been selected for the Precondition. MAP must be higher than this value to activate the DTC.

Minimum TPS

Active when either TPS or Both has been selected for the Precondition. TPS must be higher than this amount to activate the DTC.

DTC Severity

When this DTC has been flagged there is the option to set an Engine Protection severity level. This can be None where no Engine Protection is not Enabled, or a Level 1, 2, or 3 can be selected when Engine Protection is Enabled.
