Gear Detection

Wiring

Options

Gear Detection Type

Select the method used to detect gear position.
Gear Ratio - This method requires the Gear Ratios function to be enabled and configured.
Gear Switch - This method is used with a gear change switch, such as a load sensor, to increment the gear number. A Clutch Switch activation will reset the Gear number back to zero.
Gear Position Sensor - This method is used when there is a sensor on the gearbox that reports a different resistance for each gear selected. This is the only Gear Detection Type that can be used when the Transmission Type is set to Automatic.
RPM Drop - This method is used when only Engine RPM is available, and is used primarily for drag racing where gears will not be downshifted.
Use Selector Position - This method requires a Selector Position Type to be selected (following section covers choices).
CAN Input - This method is used when the Gear Position is transmitted via the vehicle CAN.
Transmission Control Function - This method requires Transmission Control to be enabled, allowing users to define which transmission is being used/controlled. ie. GM 4L60e/4L80e, Ford 4R70W and more.

Selector Position Type

This function defines what gear detection method is used. Also considered as a "PRNDL" or "T-Bar" input method for the ECU.
Disabled - Select when there is no Gear Selector Position Signal
Voltage Input - Selected when the supplied calibration data for the sensor is in voltage. This will require an Analogue Voltage Input (AVI) to be used and configured.
CAN Input - This method is used when the Selector Position is transmitted via the vehicle CAN.
GM 4L60E / 4L80E - Select this if this is the transmission and Selector Position Type being used.
One Input Per Position - This method is used when the gear position is wired to the ECU with an input per gear (Park, Reverse, Neutral, Forward Gears).

Connections

Gear Switch Input - Available when Gear Switch is set as the Gear Detection Type. Select an AVI or SPI to be used. Gear Switch input requires the Clutch Switch function to also be configured and wired. The Switch On and Switch Off voltages should be entered to suit the switching conditions.
Gear Voltage Input - Available when Gear Position is set as the Gear Detection Type. Select an AVI or SPI to be used.
Selector Position Input - Available when Voltage Input is set as the Selection Position Enable Type. Select an AVI or SPI to be used.
