Nitrous Control

Nitrous Control

Haltech's Nitrous control functionality is designed to allow either wet or dry nitrous kits to be added to your vehicle in up to 6 stages.

The ECU controls when to switch on each stage, according to when both safe operating conditions and activation conditions are met. The activation conditions can be overridden by the user using the Nitrous Override inputs - whether used as a purge or a "Go Baby Go!" button. The nitrous control stages can also be disabled by configuring them to have a Nitrous Enable switch. This helps to prevent wasting nitrous gas when not needed.

IN THE FOLLOWING SECTION, THREE PAGES WILL BE COVERED:

Mechanical System

Any of the following changes to the mechanical system require appropriate changes to be made to your Nitrous Stage correction maps. They affect the nitrous gas flow rate through the jets, changing the amount of nitrous gas which gets into the engine. If ignition timing and fuel corrections aren't applied correctly, you could damage your engine.

ECU Navigator

Overall Ignition Correction

Appears in the ECU Navigator when the Nitrous Stage has the 'Ignition Correction' option checked. This table should contain a negative ignition correction angle that is applied to the assigned stage bank(s) when the stage is active. The axis can be edited to have a possible 16x16 table.

Cylinder Ignition Correction

Appears in the ECU Navigator when the Nitrous Stage has the 'Cylinder Ignition Correction' option checked. This allows per-cylinder ignition correction for fine tuning of the ignition angle when the stage is active. These correction numbers can be positive or negative in the range of -10 to +10 degrees. May be used in combination with the Overall Ignition Correction setting.

Overall Fuel Correction

Appears in the ECU Navigator when the Nitrous Stage has the 'Fuel Correction' option checked. This table should contain the additional fuel to be delivered via the fuel injectors to the assigned stage bank(s) when the stage is active. The axis can be edited to have a possible 16x16 table.

Target AFR Correction

Appears in the ECU navigator when the Nitrous Stage has the 'AFR Correction' option checked. This table should contain a negative AFR correction which will change the current AFR Target value. The axis can be edited to have a possible 16x16 table.

Activation

This table appears in the ECU Navigator when the Activation mode of the Nitrous Stage is either Race Timer or Vehicle Speed.
When set to Race Timer, this table determines the activation time of the nitrous stage. The Axis can be edited to have a possible 8x1 table. NOTE: If the activation time is set to 0.000s, the stage will NOT activate , or will turn off if previously activated at an earlier time.
When set to Vehicle Speed, this table determines the Vehicle Speed at which the nitrous stage will activate. The Axis can be edited to have a possible 8x1 table. NOTE: If the activating speed is set to 0, the stage will NOT activate , or will turn off if previously activated at a lower speed.
