Oil Pressure Sensor

Oil Pressure Sensor

An Oil Pressure Sensor can be used with your ECU for datalogging and for Engine Protection purposes. An Oil Pressure Sensor is a powered sensor that typically has three wires; a 5V+ power wire, a signal wire to the ECU, and a Signal Ground. This sensor refers to the sensor measuring oil pressure inside the engine.

On this page, the Oil Pressure sensor calibration can be loaded or entered manually. If you have purchased an Oil Pressure sensor from Haltech, calibrations can be loaded directly into the calibration table by using the 'Load from File' button. Calibrations can be saved to file by using the 'Save to File' button.

Oil Pressure Minimum

This table is enabled when the Oil Pressure Diagnostics is enabled for monitoring of the oil pressure. The table is used as the minimum pressure the ECU expects to see under the conditions set in the Oil Pressure Diagnostics node. A pressure less than this will trigger the DTC as set in the Diagnostics.

This table is generally mapped over engine RPM to allow for changes in pressure due to oil pump speed. It can also be 3D mapped with another value such as Oil Temperature to allow for temperature compensation.

Display

This page sets the minimum and maximum values for the number and gauge displays.

Diagnostics

This node allows the enabling of high and low voltage DTCs as well as a Minimum operating pressure DTC for the Oil Pressure sensor.

A DTC severity can be set for the minimum and maximum voltage, which will trigger an Engine Protection level for the relevant setting.

Operating Minimum

The last setting enables the Oil Pressure Safety system, and is used in conjunction with the Oil Pressure Minimum table.

Minimum RPM

The RPM that must be met for the Oil Pressure Safety system to operate.

DTC Delay

The time that both the conditions and Oil Pressure Minimum must all be met before the DTC is triggered.

Precondition

Choose between MAP, TPS, or both as a load condition for the system to operate.

Minimum MAP/Minimum TPS

Sets the threshold for the precondition chosen above.

DTC Severity

Sets the level of severity when the Oil Pressure Safety system triggers.

Wiring

This page allows you to assign the input for the Oil Pressure sensor.
Oil Pressure Sensors use an Analog Input. Any available AVI can be used.
It is recommended to disable the Pull Up.
