Interface Overview



Menu Bar

1. File

New - Creates a new device file.
Open - Opens a device file.
Save - Saves the currently open device file.
Save As - Saves the currently open device file and prompts for name and saving location.
Recent Items - Displays a list of recently opened device files.
Import/Upload - Opens the Import/Upload map dialog to allow importing of tables/settings from another map into the current map, or uploading a complete map into the current online device.
Restore Defaults - Opens the Restore Default dialog to allow restoring of default values to the currently open map.
Compare - Opens the Compare map dialog to compare another map to the currently open map.
Exit - Quits the NSP software.

2. Edit

Contains Undo, Redo, Copy and Paste commands.

3. Setup

Table Axis Setup - When viewing a table, this button opens the Table Axis Setup dialog, allowing the user to customise the Table Axis.
IO Report - When online with a device that has a wiring configuration, this button opens the Input/Output report allowing the user to see how the physical wiring is allocated to the device.
Password Protection - This opens the Password Protection dialog allowing the protection of individual tables and settings within the currently open map.

4. Tools

Oscilloscope - When online with a device that has an oscilloscope function, this opens the oscilloscope window.
Upgrade Firmware - Opens the firmware upgrade dialog for the currently connected device. 
Reboot Device - Reboots the device.

5. Logging

Data Log Manager - Opens the Data Log Manager window.
Start Logging to PC - Starts datalogging the current session to PC. Choose this option again to stop datalogging. The keyboard shortcut F6 can also be used to toggle PC datalogging.
Stop Logging to PC and open for Playback - Stops the current PC datalog and immediately opens the datalog in NSP Playback Mode. This allows real-time changes to the ECU while in datalog playback mode.
Choose Log for Playback - Opens a datalog in NSP Playback mode.

6. Preferences

Theme Options - Several themes and visual adjustments can be made from this option.
Units Options - Display units can be adjusted from this option.
Navigation Tree Options - Navigation Tree settings such as font size and showing disabled functions can be adjusted from this option.
Table Text View Options - Tuning table settings such as crosshair type and highlighting options can be adjusted from this option.

7. Help

View Help - Opens the Help dialog window.
Remote Help - Opens the Remote Support tool for technical assistance.
Keyboard Reference - Opens the keyboard reference window.
Check for Updates - Manually checks online for software updates.
Disable Automatic Downloading of Updates - Disables the periodic automatic checking of software upates.
About - Displays software information and version history.

Toolbar

1. Navigation Tree

Shows or hides the Left Sidebar containing the Enable/Disable Functions Button, Search bar, Navigation tree, back/forward history controls and context tips. Click to toggle. Useful for low resolution screens such as netbooks or small laptops where there is a lack of screen space.

2. Connect Disconnect

Connects or Disconnects from your Nexus device. This button will also display your connection method by colour, along with showing if you are currently in datalog playback mode.

3. Reboot Device

Reboots the device. This button will highlight in red if a reboot is required to initialize the ECU after making some changes.

4. New

Creates a new device file.

5. Open

Opens a device map or configuration.

6. Save

Saves the currently opened map.

7. Import/Upload Map

Opens the Import/Upload map dialog to allow importing of tables/settings from another map into the current map, or uploading a complete map into the current online device.

8. Compare Map

Opens the Compare map dialog to compare another map to the currently open map.

9. Copy

Copies the currently selected data to the clipboard.

10. Paste

Pastes the clipboard data to the current active cell.

11. Undo

Undoes the most recent change on the currently viewed tree node. Each tree node has its own undo history and is tracked for the duration you are online with your device.

12. Redo

Redoes the last undone change on the currently viewed tree node.

13. Table Axis Setup

When viewing a table, this button opens the Table Axis Setup dialog, allowing the user to customise the Table Axis.

When online with a device that has a wiring configuration, this button opens the Input/Output report allowing the user to see how the physical wiring is allocated to the device.

15. Oscilloscope

When online with a device that has an oscilloscope function, this button opens the oscilloscope window.

16. Password Protection

This opens the Password Protection dialog allowing the protection of individual tables and settings within the currently open map.

17. Upgrade Firmware

Opens the firmware upgrade dialog for the currently connected device. If a firmware update is available and pending, this button will illuminate green, indicating a firmware update is ready to be applied.

18. Check for Updates

Checks for available software updates via in the Internet. If Automatic Updates are enabled, periodically this button will indicate the status of any update checks that the software performs. If any updates are found, this button will show the progress of any updates it is downloading. Hovering over the button while it displays an updating status will show more information about what is being downloaded.

19. Data Log Manager

Opens the Data Log Manager dialog to extract and play back data logs from your device. This button will indicate when any datalogs are being recorded or extracted.

20. Help

Opens the help side panel. This help panel will give contextual help depending on the tree node selected.

21. Show All Errors

Shows any configuration errors that exist in the ECU configuration. These require attention and should be resolved under normal usage.

22. Show All Warnings

Shows any configuration warnings that exist in the ECU configuration. These are informational warnings and do not require attention under normal usage.

23. Show All Diagnostic Trouble Codes

Shows any current and past DTC codes stored in the ECU.

Left Sidebar

1. Enable Disable Functions

Clicking this will take you to the functions list for easy enabling and disabling of ECU functions. This can be useful for early ECU setup where enabling a large number of functions at once is required.
Searches the navigation tree. Results will include disabled functions, therefore it can be helpful to search here for a function or table you would like to enable or adjust.

3. Navigation Tree

This is the main navigation element of NSP and is comprised of tree 'Nodes'. Each Node can be visited to see and adjust the relevant settings and functions for that Node.

4. Tree History Navigation

When moving between tree nodes, a history is kept of recently visited nodes in both forward and reverse directions. When moving between nodes whilst tuning, the Tree History can be used to easily move back and forth without finding the relevant tree nodes each time.

5. Context Tips

This text panel will show a brief text explanation of the currently selected element on the screen. 

Main Display

1. Page Tabs

Each Tab contains a collection of screen elements that make up a page. New pages can be created and an assortment of preconfigured Pages are available. The tabs can be reordered by clicking and dragging. A default 'Main Tab' can be chosen by right clicking a tab and choosing 'Set to Default Page'. 

2. Page Display

This is the main display of NSP and contains the screen elements for the currently selected tab.
