Pit Lane Speed Limiter

Pit Lane Speed Limiter

The Pit Lane Speed Limiter function allows a user to limit vehicle speed using either an ignition or fuel cut. This function is designed to limit overall vehicle speed for use when in the pit lane, or driving between stages/race events (eg. Rally Racing). Engine Speed will be limited by a user-defined ignition or fuel cut, and on vehicles using Drive-By-Wire (DBW), a maximum throttle opening  can be applied.

Vehicle Functions - Pit Lane Speed Limiter Settings

Cut Method

Ignition

Controls Engine Speed using an ignition cut. Once the Pit Lane Speed Limit is reached, ignition cut will be active until vehicle speed is below the target vehicle Speed Limit.

Injection

Controls Engine Speed using a fuel cut. Once the Pit Lane Speed Limit is reached, fuel cut will be active until vehicle speed is below the target vehicle Speed Limit.

Speed Limit

This is used to calculate an Engine Speed Limit, which will limit overall vehicle speed. Note: The fastest vehicle speed sensor reading is used, in the event that a single sensor fails, the setting will revert to a separate sensor reading to function.

Speed Lock-Out

This will prevent the Pit Lane Speed Limiter from activating above a certain vehicle speed. This is used to prevent accidental activation while the vehicle is under race conditions (speed).

A vehicle speed sensor’s job is relatively simple. It measures the speed of a rotating shaft and sends that information to the engine management system for processing. The two most important things to know about wheel speed sensors are: 1. What kind ...
