Steering Angle Sensor

Steering Angle Sensor

Steering Angle sensors are used to measure the steering wheel position, angle and rate of turn. This information can be used to enhance braking, handling and traction as driving conditions change. A variable-assist power steering system can use this information to vary hydraulic pressure.

The main node allows the Steering Angle sensor calibration to be loaded or entered manually. Saved calibrations can be loaded directly into the calibration table by using the 'Load from File' button. Calibrations can be saved to file by using the 'Save to File' button.

Diagnostics

This node allows the enabling of high and low voltage DTCs for the Steering Angle sensor.

A DTC severity can be set for each voltage, which will trigger an Engine Protection level for the relevant setting.

Wiring

This node allows you to set the sensor type and input for your Steering Angle sensor.

Options

Input Type - set this to 'Analogue - Voltage' if you're using an angle sensor that is wired directly to the ECU. If the sensor value is being sent to the ECU via the Vehicle CAN, set this to 'CAN Input'.

Connections

This area configures the physical input assigned to the Steering Angle input. Generally, the sensor is wired to an Analog input, with the Pull Up disabled.
