Throttle Position Sensor

Throttle Position Sensor

A Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) is required by the Elite ECU for many purposes. It can be used for the load input for some application. It is also used with Idle Control, Decel Cut, Transient Throttle, and many other functions. A TPS is a powered sensor that typically has three wires. A 5V+, a signal wire to the Elite ECU, and a Signal Ground.

Throttle Position Input

Select an appropriate input to use for the Throttle Position Sensor. An appropriate AVI (Analogue Voltage Input) should be used. (Default = AVI-10)

Calibration Tab

A calibration must be performed when a new TPS is installed or the TPS has simply been removed and replaced. This is to ensure the Elite ECU knows when the throttle is fully shut and when it is fully open.

The calibration can be completed using one of two methods. This is by either using the TPS Calibration wizard, or by manually entering the 0% TPS voltage and the 100% TPS voltage in the calibration graph below the wizard.

TPS Calibration Wizard

The on screen process will guide you through the calibration. Be sure to read and follow all instructions to complete the calibration successfully.

Begin the calibration process by pressing the Start button.

Step 1 is to find the TPS voltage for closed throttle.

Step 2 is to find the TPS voltage for wide open throttle.

And now the calibration is complete.

The calibration can be manually altered by directly entering voltages for 0% and 100% throttle amounts.

Diagnostics Tab

The settings in this tab allow limits to be set for the detection of either fault conditions, or conditions that could be considered to cause engine damage related to the Manifold Pressure Sensor.

Raw Min

When enabled, this allows for the error code P0122 to be set when the voltage is below the set amount. This is used to detect a short or disconnection with the wiring. If the Engine Protection function is active a DTC Severity level can be selected for this condition if desired. (Default = Disabled)

Raw Max

When enabled, this allows for the error code P0123 to be set when the voltage is above the set amount. This is used to detect a short or disconnection with the wiring. If the Engine Protection function is active a DTC Severity level can be selected for this condition if desired. (Default = Disabled)
