Traction Control

Traction Control

The Traction Control function allows for multiple wheel speed inputs to be used to detect loss of traction. The Elite ECU can cut cylinder outputs to reduce power and regain lost traction.

Traction Control

Traction Control Type

PID From Vehicle Speeds

Allows wheel speed sensors to detect loss of traction, and implements a cut in order to reduce slip and regain traction. A minimum of a single front and a single rear wheel speed sensor is required to use this function.

Percentage Cut

Cuts power by a percentage based based on the Cut Percentage Table when measured wheel slip is detected in excess of the Desired Slip Table

Vehicle CAN Torque Limit

If the vehicle is equipped with a supported CAN-based unit which transmits a torque limit, this can be used for traction control.

Switch Enable

This allows a switch to be used to enable or disable Traction Control.

Input - Mode

Digital - Switched - Uses an AVI or SPI input on the Nexus VCU to enable / disable traction control
Vehicle CAN -
Uses a CAN device such has Haltech CAN Keypad to enable / disable traction control

Driven Wheel Minimum Speed

The Traction Control function will not activate until the wheel speeds are above this amount. This is to allow correct calculation of wheel slip.

Ramp Out Rate

Select the aggressiveness of how quickly power is re-introduced after cylinders have been cut.

Cut Method

Ignition Cut

Ignition Outputs will be cut to limit engine power. This is the more common method.

Injection Cut

Injection Outputs will be cut to limit engine power.

PID Tuning

This allows mapping of the rate of closed loop operation of Traction Control so that it can achieve the desired slip amount.

Traction Control - Conditional Activation

Conditional Activation

Condition Enable

Enable an ECU condition that must be met to allow Traction Control to activate.

When Traction Control Switch is On
And/Or
Allows the Traction Control Switch And/Or an ECU condition to be combined to allow Traction Control to activate.
Select
Select the ECU channel to be used.
Maths
A selection of Equal To, Not Equal To, Greater Than, Less Than, Greater Than Or Equal To, Less Than Or Equal To that is to be used.
Value
The value the maths must meet to enable the condition.
