Water Injection

Water Injection

Some cars (eg the Saab 99 Turbo S) have, from factory, a water injection system (also known as anti-detonant injection (ADI)) that sprays water into the air-fuel mixture before it reaches the engine, or directly into each cylinder. This Water Injection cools certain parts of the induction system where excess heat could produce premature ignition.
Water Injection is used in motor sport and drag racing applications, as significant performance gains can be obtained by reducing engine knock/detonation caused by excess heat. This means that a turbo vehicle can produce a higher level of boost while maintaining safe conditions. More aggressive ignition timing, and higher compression ratios can also be obtained safely.
Aftermarket water injection kits are available, and can be controlled by the Water Injection function of your Haltech ECU.

RPM - The RPM must exceed this amount of RPM together with the Load and Min Air Temp conditions to activate the Water Injection Output. The output will stay active until the RPM has dropped 1000rpm below this amount.

Load - The engine Load must exceed this amount together with the Min RPM and Min Air Temp conditions to activate the Water Injection Output.

Air Temperature - The Air Temperature must exceed this amount together with the Min RPM and Min Load conditions to activate the Water Injection Output.
