Windscreen Wipers

Windscreen Wipers

When enabled, this function will allow the control of  vehicle windscreen wipers through the use of a Haltech PDM. You will note that the low speed winding is not used, and only the high speed winding is used. Since we can use PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) to control the PDM output pin which is directly connected to the wiper motor, we have complete control of the motor speed.

Pinout:

ALow Speed Winding
BHigh Speed Winding
CPark Switch 12V Supply
DPark Switch Ground
EPark Switch Common

To differentiate between low speed and high speed winding, use a Multimeter on the resistance setting to probe the pins. High Speed Winding will have a lower resistance than the Low Speed Winding.

Method

To wire the motor up to a PDM:

                   Pin    Connection on PDM
ANOT connected
BHBO driving it High to operate the motor
CNOT connected
DBattery Ground
EAn Input such as AVI with Pullup Enabled (Active Low)

    Wiring

This page is accessible when Windscreen Wipers function is enabled in Electrical.

Front Low Speed Enable:
Enables an input for the driver to request the wipers to operate in low speed mode.

Front Off Input Enable:
Enables an input for the driver to request the wipers to stay in park position.

Front Hold To Swipe Input Enable:
Enables an input for the driver to request wipers to operate at full speed while the switch is being held down and then turn off when the switch is in rest position.

Front Intermittent Mode:
This drop down menu allows you to choose the conditions of operation of the front wipers while in intermittent mode
Off: Removes the "Front Intermittent Input" wiring connection from the options.
Single Speed: Allows intermittent mode; where the windscreen wipers will pause between swipes.
Slow when Stopped: Allows the wipers to have a longer pause between swipes when the vehicle is stationary.
Voltage Input: Enables the Intermittent Voltage Settings to allow the use of a variable voltage input to control the pause time between swipes.

Rear Mode:
This drop down menu allows you to choose the conditions of operation of the rear wiper
Disabled: Removes the "Rear Park Input", "Rear Wiper Output", and Rear Full Speed" wiring connections from the options.
Rear Wiper Input: Enables an input for the driver to request the rear wiper to operate.
Follow Front When Reversing: Enables the rear wiper while in reverse gear if the front wipers are in operation.
