Flex Fuel Composition Sensor
A Flex Fuel Composition Sensor is used to monitor the ethanol content of the fuel. This can be used with your ECU for Flex Fuel tuning to suit a varying blend of ethanol in the fuel, for datalogging, and for Engine Protection purposes. The Haltech Flex Fuel Composition Sensor uses a digital frequency to report ethanol percentage to the Elite ECU.
Flex Fuel Composition Sensor Configuration
On this node, the Flex Fuel Composition sensor calibration can be loaded or entered manually. For most common Flex Fuel sensors, the default calibration is correct. Default - 50hz = 0%, 150hz = 100%.
Sampling Thresholds
At high engine speeds and loads where the fuel system may start to run out of return fuel flow, the Flex Fuel sensor may not read correctly due to a lack of flow over the sensor especially if the sensor is fitted in the fuel return line. Enabling the sampling threshold will prevent the ECU from sampling the sensor above the RPM and Load threshold entered. When under the threshold, the sensor is sampled as normal. This will provide the ECU with a stable value to use for fuel calculations under all operating conditions.
Display
This node sets the display settings for the Flex Fuel Temperature channel.
Warning Minimum - Sets the pressure at which the Flex Fuel Composition sensor Number Displays, Gauges and Bars will enter their lower warning state.
Warning Maximum - Sets the pressure at which the Flex Fuel Composition sensor Number Displays, Gauges and Bars will enter their upper warning state.
This node allows the enabling of high and low frequency DTCs for the Flex Fuel Composition sensor.
A DTC severity can be set for each frequency, which will trigger an Engine Protection level for the relevant setting.
Use this node to configure the input used for the Flex Fuel composition sensor. Most common Flex Fuel sensors use the Digital - Frequency type input.
Digital Frequency - Select this type of input if your sensor provides a digital frequency output. The Haltech Flex Fuel Composition Sensor is a Digital Frequency type. Set the Edge Select to Rising, Sensor Type to Hall Effect and Pull Up to Enabled.
Analogue Voltage - Select this type of input if your sensor provides an analogue 0 to 5V output.
SPI Glitch Filter - (digital sensors only)
This table sets the amount of time in microseconds that the signal pulse must remain in a transitioned state in order for the signal to be accepted as valid.
Any pulse shorter than this time will be considered a glitch on the signal and rejected by the ECU.
