Flow

Flow

This table sets the flow rate of the fuel injectors fitted to each injector output in the injection stage. If multiple injectors are fitted per injector output, this is the combined flow rate of all injectors per output.

This data is usually supplied by the injector supplier or manufacturer. By default the injector flow units are displayed in cc/min but can be changed via the 'Fuel Volume' unit selection in the Tools > Units Options dialog.

Most fuel injectors are rated in cc/min (or lb/hr) at a constant differential fuel pressure. eg, 1000cc/min @ 3 bar. However, if the differential pressure changes, so does the flow. Therefore, it is always beneficial to include the injector flow rate values at multiple differential fuel pressure values if possible. Simple online calculators can easily be found to calculate these values from a known flow rate at a known pressure differential.

Injector differential pressure can be calculated by your ECU in several ways:
When no fuel pressure sensor is present & 'Fuel Pressure Input Type' is set to 'MAP Reference':
Injector Pressure Differential = Base Fuel Pressure value.
When no fuel pressure sensor is present & 'Fuel Pressure Input Type' is set to 'Constant':
Injector Pressure Differential = Base Fuel Pressure value - Manifold Pressure value.
When a fuel pressure sensor is present & 'Fuel Pressure Input Type' is set to 'MAP Reference' or 'Constant':
Injector Pressure Differential = Fuel Pressure Sensor value - Manifold Pressure value
