How to configure a Hondata K-Pro V4 ECU to work with a Haltech display dash
If your Haltech dash display is using or has been updated to use the NSP software, you will first need to set it up to communicate with Hondata K-Pro V4 ECU, similar to the example shown in the "Third-party ECU CAN" section of this article:
Sourcing data for dashes in NSP.
You will also need to ensure that your Haltech display dash is correctly wired to an appropriate switched +12V power and ground source, and that the dash's CAN High and CAN Low pins are connected to your ECU’s CAN High and CAN Low pins. The Hondata K-Pro ECU's CAN High and Low pins are located on the board itself and are usually provided with a flying lead connector to plug into the 10-pin header.
Optionally, you can use an
HT-130046 CAN adapter loom to wire the Haltech CAN High (white) and CAN Low (blue) wires. This adapter uses a DTM-4 receptacle, which plugs into the CAN cable included with the Haltech dash display. Red and black flying lead wires are fitted to supply switched +12V and ground, respectively.
Hondata KManager software setup
The Hondata software will need the CAN output to be enabled for this functionality. To do this, connect the Hondata ECU to the software and navigate to Parameters > Multiplexed / Digital Output, then set the CAN output type to Hondata Protocol 1 Mbps (note: shown as "Hondata Protocol (1 mbps)" in the software).
Supported channels
With the Hondata CAN output set up correctly, the Haltech dash will be able to read and display the following channels:
- Engine RPM
- Vehicle speed
- Throttle position sensor
- Battery voltage
- Engine coolant temperature
- Intake manifold temperature
- Ethanol content
- Current gear
- Ignition advance
- Injector pulse width
- Lambda
- Manifold absolute pressure
- Actual Current camshaft position
- Camshaft target position
- Knock count
