How to configure a Link G4 CAN-enabled ECU to work with a Haltech display dash

If your Haltech dash display is using or has been updated to use the NSP software, you will first need to set it up to communicate with a Link ECU, similar to the example shown in the "Third-party ECU CAN" section of this article: Sourcing data for dashes in NSP.

You will also need to ensure that your Haltech display dash is correctly wired to an appropriate switched +12V power and ground source, and that the dash's CAN High and CAN Low pins are connected to your Link ECU’s CAN High and CAN Low pins. Optionally, you can also use these CAN adapter looms:

  1. HT-130047 - This Haltech CAN adapter loom is available as an optional part that you can purchase, to allow direct plug-and-play connectivity to Wire-in Link & VIPEC ECUs fitted with the external ‘M5’ 6-pin comms port found adjacent to the USB comms port. Red and black flying lead wires are fitted to supply switched +12V and ground, respectively.

  1. HT-130048 - This Haltech CAN adapter loom is available as an optional part that you can purchase, to allow direct plug-and-play connectivity to Plug-in Link ECUs with the internal ‘JST’ 5-pin CAN connector found on the PCB. Red and black flying lead wires are fitted to supply switched +12V and ground, respectively.

PC Link Programming software setup
  1. Go online with your Link ECU from within the PCLink Programming Software.
  2. Once online with your Link ECU, go to the ‘ECU Controls’ menu, and choose ‘CAN Setup’.

       3. From within the CAN Setup window, under the ‘Mode’ tab, select the appropriate CAN Module you will use for connection to the Haltech dash display. For most installations this will be CAN 1.

Configure the CAN settings as per the below:

4. To save these settings click Apply and OK.
5. Don’t forget to store these settings in your ECU by choosing ‘Store to ECU’ from the ‘ECU Controls’ menu, or by pressing CTRL+S
