Overboost Cut

Overboost Cut

Overboost Cut

Enabling this function activates the Overboost Cut section in the ECU Navigator. The Cut Pressure table will then be available with up to 2D mapping.  If the boost pressure exceeds the Cut Pressure setting for a length of time greater than the Delay, the Overboost Cut will activate to protect the engine.  When the boost pressure has dropped below the cut pressure by the Hysteresis amount the engine will resume normal operation.

Note: Due to the large number of pressure units, all default values are quoted in the default unit of kPa.

Cut Method - The method used by the function to reduce boost pressure when overboosting.
Ignition - Ignition Outputs will be cut. This is the more common method.
Fuel - Injection Outputs will be cut.
Fuel & Ignition - Both Injection Outputs and Ignition Outputs will be cut.

Delay - The boost pressure must exceed the Cut Pressure value by this amount of time in order to activate the Overboost Cut. This is to prevent the Overboost Cut from inadvertently engaging when there is only an instantaneous spike in the boost pressure.

Hysteresis - Boost Pressure must drop by this amount below the Cut Pressure to resume normal operation.
Eg. If the Cut Pressure is 150 and the Hysteresis is 10 then the boost pressure must drop below 140 to resume normal operation.
