Air Conditioner

Air Conditioning Control

The Air Conditioning (A/C) Control can perform two tasks. Air Conditioning Control can be used to assist in turning off the A/C compressor when under high loads. This allows more power to be used to drive the wheels. The A/C Control output can also be used to trigger increased idle speed to accommodate the extra load from the compressor. The Air Conditioning Control requires input from the A/C request switch and an output to the A/C compressor which can be setup via the wiring tab within the function.

Air Con

Conditions Time Delay

In order to prevent the A/C compressor from making rapid transitions with rapid changes in throttle, the minimum time interval between on and off transitions can be specified here. (Default = 5 s)

Min Engine Running Time

The A/C output is disabled until the engine running time exceeds this value. Setting to 0 will let the output turn on immediately. Typical values will allow enough time for the idle to stabilise after the engine first starts. (Default = 5 s)

Maximum RPM

A/C output is disabled when the engine speed exceeds this RPM. This is to prevent over revving the air con compressor on some high performance engines. (Default = 4500 rpm)

Maximum TPS

A/C output is disabled when TPS is above this value. This removes the air conditioning compressor load from the engine under high driver demand.

Air Con Min Temp

Only available when an A/C Temperature Sensor is enabled. The A/C output is disabled when the A/C Temperature Sensor reads below this value.

Air Con Min Temp Hyst

Only available when an A/C Temperature Sensor is enabled. The A/C Temperature must rise this amount above the Min Temp to re-engage the compressor output.

Min Pressure Enable

Only available when an A/C Pressure Sensor is enabled.

Air Con Min Pressure

The A/C output is disabled when the A/C Pressure Sensor reads below this value.

Air Con Min Pressure Hyst

The A/C Pressure must rise this amount above the Min Pressure to re-engage the compressor output. This is to prevent oscillation.

Air Con Max Pressure Hyst

Only available when an A/C Pressure Sensor is enabled. The A/C Pressure must drop by this amount below the Min Pressure to re-engage the compressor output. This is to prevent oscillation.

Air Con Idle RPM Offset

Increases the idle target RPM when engaging the A/C compressor.

Air Con Idle Base Offset

Increases the idle base duty when engaging the A/C compressor.

Idle Time On Delay

This setting is to allow adequate time for the Idle Control to increase the Target Idle RPM and Base Duty in anticipation of the additional load caused by engaging the A/C clutch. After this time has passed the compressor output is then engaged. Typically around 0.5 seconds.

Idle Time Off Delay

This setting is to allow time for the Idle Control to drop to the Target Idle RPM after the A/C is turned off. The Idle Target and Base offsets will disable first, and then after this amount of time the compressor output will turn off.

Pulse Enable

Enables a pulsed output with a set on/off time. If this setting is disabled the output will not be pulsed.

Pulse On Time

The time duration (ms) for which the pulsed output will be active. (Default = 3000 ms)

Pulse Off Time

The time duration (ms) for which the pulsed output will be deactivated. (Default = 1000 ms)
